About the role
We're looking for a senior backend engineer to own core services of our shipment-tracking platform, which processes 40 million events a day. You'll work in a squad of six with a product manager and designer.
What you'll do
- Design, build and operate Python services on AWS (ECS, RDS, SQS)
- Lead technical design reviews and mentor two mid-level engineers
- Improve reliability: SLOs, alerting, on-call rotation (1 week in 6)
- Partner with product to break down roadmap items into deliverable increments
Requirements
- 6+ years building production backend systems, 3+ in Python
- Deep PostgreSQL knowledge, including query tuning
- Experience running services in containers on AWS or GCP
- Clear written communication; we work across two time zones
